I think one of the reasons for the disconnect regarding the photo is that weather-wise, 9/11 was a beautiful day.
So we have a picture of a group of people in short sleeves and shorts sitting on green grass by the waterfront under a blue sky with the sun shining and think they're just out enjoying the day.
If it were cloudy and windy, I don't think the photo would have given the impression Rich got from it.
