The “Iranian Dilemma” Solved!

Stop thinking of it as a dilemma. Stop letting the Bush Administration lead you around by the nose. Stop letting neoconservatives “define” reality. Instead, accept the fact that the US and the UN cannot stop Iran from developing whatever nuclear technologies it so chooses. This is the point at which we relax, knowing that there’s nothing we can do about it.

If you understand nothing, understand this. The only reason for pretending this is an urgent problem and pretending to be pursuing a diplomatic solution is to ultimately justify the one thing we can do to put a stop to Iran’s nuclear aspirations. That one thing is, of course, to use nukes on them before they can use nukes on us. That’s all that’s happening right now. Iran is betting we’ll never nuke them and Bush is betting he can define the problem in such a way that he can justify nuking them. If he thought he could get away with it, he’d nuke Iran today.

Believe it. He and is lieutenants just finished a round of rhetoric that compared the Iranian threat to that of the Nazis. Check your history books kids. When was the last time and the only time atomic weapons were used? At the end of WWII. And you’d better believe that in Bush’s circle, there is no question as to the rightness of the decision to use those weapons then. If the threat is the same, then the weapons used to defeat that threat are as justified now and they were then.
