[Last Update] Despite punoqun's easygoing quasi-on-their-side demeanor, he’s been banned. So, I suppose I’m done.

Interesting move by Geoff...
I'm curious about what he was trying to accomplish.
Re-reading it, it sort of sounds like an, "I have come to bury dKos, not to praise it -- BOTF is an honorable forum!" type of deal. From my perspective it seems to be a call to Slate editors -- you're sitting on a goldmine, your current competition is blowing it, but you can't count on that forever.
I just finished reading The Long Tail. I'll post a review later this week, and it will include why, despite its efforts, Slate is not, and never will be, a Long Tail-type business.
I figured it would be the only honorable way for the NIC to go down. And people wonder why I try not to post about politics. ;)
I was considering making a new one every day just to see how long the jihad would continue, but I don't have time for this crap. They can take their toys and go home and I hope they have a nice afternoon.
And I'm waiting on your Long-tailed analysis, John. But I don't see Kos as a competition. Now, if they ever got their shit together over at The New Yorker or a couple other places, then we might have room to comment.
Kos reminds me a great deal of the forums associated with the webcomic Penny Arcade. You come in there with a certain demographic and they have a certain set of assumed truisms about the way of the world. If you don't follow them, it's ugly.
Funny part of it is, Jerry and Mike don't drive it. They enjoy the fact that there are people out there who don't like their work or may disagree with them on what is the "best game eVAR!" this week. This all comes straight from their forum regulars.
I wonder how much of this crap the real Kos-guy would have done?
oh jeezus
The last reply where it is all a corporate conspiracy killed me.
